Saturday In A "Nut Shell"
Well today I woke up Saturday at 11 AM. I don't think I've slept in till 11 for quite awhile. Although I did sleep in till 11, I didn't feel like my normal, spunky self today and everything just felt like it dragged along.
After showering and going through my normal routine of getting ready I got ready for the football game versus Clemson. I actually thought today after last week's loss that we would win today. Amanda, Ryan, Aloysius and I all went to the Loop to watch the game and also do theory homework. That's right theory homework while watching football. By the time halftime came around I was feeling pretty confident that we would win after coming back from a 14-0 deficit. Well that didn't happen and we were plagued by more interceptions and just horrible offense.
Later I went to practice at the music school for a couple of hours. Unfortunately I didn't feel like I accomplished a lot. I somewhat ran through this new etude which wasn't too bad. I also touched upon a concerto that I played in high school. Still I didn't feel like I had much success practicing today. Today was probably just one of those days that keep going on forever and ever.
My excitement for the day was going to see "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory." I saw this with my friends at the dollar movie theater. When the movie began it reminded me a lot of Harry Potter. It was most likely because it was set in England and it had a very wintery feel. The movie did follow the original but there were some added in things that I didn't like. There were also some additions I did like. The part with the squirrels was probably my favorite part. Hearing Johnny Depp's voice in a different way was also funny since he usually speaks with a deep, rough voice. I won't deny I enjoyed the movie to a degree but I wish I could have heard the Oompa Loompa song. :(
Even though the movie wasn't spectacular it still gave a very good message. One being money or talent doesn't buy everything and I would venture to say that the most important characteristic is love. Charlie loves his family so dear that when offered the chance to live in the factory he says no to Willie because he would have to leave the ones he loves.
One thing that came up in a discussion after the movie was whether or not Johnny Depp looks like Michael Jackson in the movie. Well you can make your comparison here:
I guess I would agree a little, but who would you rather meet? Exactly.
Now I'm tired and going to sleep.
