Fun Weekend With Family and Friends
Well even though it is Monday I'm going to give an overview of the past weekend.
Friday my parents came up for the weekend, partly to see me and attend the football game and then also to celebrate my brother's 21st birthday. Friday my parents made it into town at approximately 6:00 PM. They along with Aloysius and I went to Smokey Bones restaurant to eat. There we happened to run into my former band director who I haven't seen for quite a long time. It was definitely good to catch up on old times. After Smokey Bones Aloysius and I returned to our residence hall. We decided to watch the movie, "The Great Escape," with Amanda and Nik. The movie was based on a true story from a World War II POW camp. I really enjoyed the movie even though I didn't necessarily like the ending. Unfortunately since it was based on a true story you can't change the ending. After that we went to bed at about 3 AM.
Saturday morning I woke at 11 to meet my parents. We went to lunch at Wendy's then headed over to Skull Session before the football game. At Skull Session we watched the Marching Chiefs do their pre-game preparations. Afterwards we headed into the stadium to watch the football game. Sadly enough we lost to North Carolina State after a hard fought game. Actually I would say the first three quarters our offense stunk and the defense tried to give our team a chance to win by forcing two blocked punts. But, it wasn't enough to take the lead back and we suffered our only loss at home. The good news is since Boston College lost, we still will go to the ACC Championship. Immediately after the game my parents, Aloysius, and I headed to the USO concert to hear lots of Mozart. Aloysius' teacher performed violin concerto. The compressed USO also played Symphony No. 40, one of Mozart's most famous symphonies. After we all headed to The Loop for some excellent pizza. Yes! The Loop is awesome. What was funny was Amanda was there the whole time we were and none of us noticed her nor did she notice us. Later we watched "The Matrix." This was Aloysius' first time seeing the movie and I thinked he enjoyed it a lot.
Sunday morning I got up bright and early to head to church. I only slept for 4 hours so I was pretty much dead. Still I was committed to playing at the early service. The message that morning was from 2 Samuel 6. Pastor Bob preached David's passion for God. I tried getting as much out of the sermon as possible but going on 4 hours of sleep made it very hard. Following the service my parents and I went to Governor's Square Mall so I could buy some pants. Beforehand we ate at Firehouse Subs. I bought the two pairs of pants I needed from American Eagle but being American Eagle you can't get out of there cheap. After that I returned to my room and took a nap. Later I worked on a theory project with people from my class. We had to compose some more counterpoints which actually turned out descent. Today when we performed our counterpoint in class we got a lot of positive feedback so I was pleased. The rest of Sunday I ate dinner with my parents and practiced. I was very happy after practicing Sunday night because it was one of the most productive practices I've had in the past few weeks.
Today went as most Mondays do. I wake up early for math, dreading the fact that I have to walk across campus. Next I took a nap instead of practicing and then went to piano class. After piano came lunch and then theory class. Theory was followed with band sectionals followed by studying. Then I went with Aloysius, Amanda, and Nik to Walmart and then to Governor's Square Mall. After returning I practiced for my fundamentals class tommorrow and my lesson on Wednesday. Then I finished my sight singing homework and now I'm writing this. Now it is time for bed. Swooh.
